Many of you commented on our pack of rescue dogs, so I thought I’d share some pictures of them having fun.
Before Covid we walked them on the local forest tracks. Once people were allowed out of lockdown for exercise, this became problematic – far too many people, with dogs, on bicycles, in large groups – it all became too stressful. Gathering up and leashing 9 dogs, some of whom are not that sociable with strangers due to their traumatic pasts, is no simple task.
Enter Wagg Tail Woods, a local secure dog park, where we can let them run in total safety for 45 minutes at a time. Happy dogs, relaxed humans. Ahhhh…
Video below: Dyson, the brown and white Podenco-pointer cross, loves to patrol the perimeter and warn off passing cars, while little Lola, the black spaniel in the centre at the end, is totally blind but still loves to run, and this secure park means we can allow her off the lead to do her own thing – she’s in her element!
It’s a lovely, super well thought-out park
Billy, who comes through at the end of this clip, is 90 years old in human terms, but still enjoys an outing

The woodland walk, Tanya’s Trail, becomes a mite soggy when it’s rained, but there’s always Mac’s Meadow instead

Dog parks seem to be quite a thing now, along with doggie day care. Excellent idea, i guess all your dogs get on with each other, but please don’t tell us they all sleep on your bed!

Well 2 or 3 to each bed, the others have their own spots on the floor, and the old guy lives on the sofa.

Oh, Debby! They look like such a LOVELY group of doggies, wagging their tails madly and racing around having fun. It’s hard to believe they have problems, and I’m SO glad you’ve taken them on to rehab them so they can be adopted into a forever home!! Later today, I’m going to post a link to this so folks who visit TWS can take a look for themselves, unless you’d rather I didn’t? I just think those who commented on them would love to see your absolutely fantastic doggies and the really beautiful park you take them to, when you can.

The ones you see in this post are all in their ‘furever’ homes – none of this lot will be moving on, although we had an extra one last week who has now gone on.

What great places to let the dogs run, Deborah. And the water features (lol) cracked me up. You are so brave to let those pups get all wet and muddy. But that’s a dog’s life. What fun.

Lol, getting wet and muddy is one of their favourite occupations! We are currently having an extension added to the house which includes a dog room, with benches and heat lamps. Spoiled rotten doggies ❤

I’ve spent nearly all of my 62 years with dogs. I can’t imagine life without one. Dog parks were the best invention! I have to imagine that dinghy sees a lot of critters in one day.

Pete, I’d guess you’re right! There’s a big hose runs out to it to keep the water level up when there isn’t enough rain, but as this is the Scottish Highlands, that only happens for a small part of the year!

Amazing! It’s a challenge taking on one dog with behavioural issues, but to see all of these together is one of the most heartwarming experiences. it’s also great that there’s such an exciting and safe place for them to enjoy their freedom. xx

We were so delighted to find this park. Weirdly, the place used to belong to friends of ours, and the fields used to be her ponies’ grazing land. The woods still have a few of her small cross-country jumping fences left over, which the dogs now jump over!

What a wonderful place for the doggies to run and play. We are lucky to have a couple near us here in Spain. And we have the beaches too, some just for dogs. Those pups are so lucky to have you to care for them and love them. xo

Ah yes, we have gorgeous beaches too, but once again, too many people on them, and usually too near to a road to let many of these guys loose.
With the exception of the collie, the rest of the pack area all rescues from Spain!

That is so wonderful. Ours are Spanish dogs as well, both rescues. Our beaches are no where near roads so that is good. Rescues give us so much love.
