#BookReview – GAME OF LIES (Messenger Chronicles #2) by Pippa DaCosta #SFF

I’m writing this review as I get ready to GO ON HOLIDAY!!! Can’t wait, though it does mean I won’t be around to post much for the next few weeks – goodness knows, I’ve earned the break, even though I love both of my jobs.

We are heading off to tour the Inner Hebrides, so expect lots more photos of fabulous Scottish scenery when I get back.

In the meantime, I read book #2 in the Messenger Chronicles and, oh my, I love this series!

Game of Lies (Messenger Chronicles, #2)Game of Lies by Pippa DaCosta
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where to begin? Kesh Lasota took me on a breathlessly exciting rollercoaster of a read in book #1, Shoot the Messenger. Now she’s back and doing the same again!
Captured by a bloodthirsty fae general, she has no defence except for her supreme ability to lie. But what of her men? Are they lying too? Where does she stand with them, and can they all save each other, or will one of them need to be sacrificed?
This extraordinary blend of SF and fantasy – faerie in space – works so well I’m flabbergasted, and DaCosta’s writing is the icing on the cake – you’ll never find a boring turn of phrase, or a mundane description, I promise. If you embark on this series you’ll be utterly caught up in the twists and turns of a supremely devious mind. Both Kesh and the author qualify for that tag.
I was also very happy to see the resurrection of Sota, the battle drone. I missed his snarky comments after Kellee disembowelled him, but Sota blasts his way back into the frame with style in Game of Lies.
I’ve already bought the next one, just needing to find available time to get sucked in again.

Once again, I’m going to take my TBR (to be read) list in hand and continue some of the series I’ve started, rather than (just) keep on starting new ones – how about you? Are you in control of your TBR list?

    1. Thanks Sally, it isn’t looking promising just now, but let’s face it – one doesn’t go to Scotland for the weather! I’m well prepared with waterproofs…

      2. There will be 4 books in the series, book 3 is already out (and loaded on my Kindle) and she writes them in 3 months, so the last won’t be long 😀
