Edinburgh Author Signing #EASE2018

I did it! I actually remembered to sign my author name, not my real name!!!

You might think that should be easy, but the night before I’d given a lecture to the Fife Riding Club, and sold and signed copies of my equestrian books – naturally, using my real name.

So when EASE began, I was anxious that I remember to sign Deborah Jay, and not Debby Lush.

Mission accomplished – phew!

Here’s the room, just before we opened

That’s my banner in the centre of the pic – I was sharing the table with my friend Rose Dewar, dressed in the striking red jacket, all the better for catching the attention of passing customers. Rose writes Scottish historical romances, urban fantasy, and contemporary romance set in a ski school. She had the even bigger challenge as she writes under two different pen names – Belle McInnes, and Roz Marshall, so even more names to keep straight!

The first lady through the doors bought a book from each of us, getting us underway with a big smile.

We weren’t busy all day, but we each sold a handful of books and made lots of new contacts. I gave away all of the short stories I printed out which will hopefully lead to a few more sales to those readers who openly admitted they (like me) prefer to read ebooks rather than paperback. They come along to signings to meet new authors.

All in all, a fun and exhausting day, and I will happily do another when I manage to get into one – they fill up often more than a year in advance, especially when a big name author joins, which really brings in the crowds.

I’ve now spent a couple of days sightseeing in Edinburgh, and have LOTS of pics and videos to share in the future, but for now, here I am, in love with my beautiful banner which was designed for me by Rose from pics I’d already bought. The striking lady at the bottom is destined to be on one of my sprite novel covers when I eventually find time to write them!

Do you still read paperbacks?

Or is it ebooks only for you?
