Wrapping up #EXCERPT WEEK on THE WRITE STUFF #readers #books

Excerpt Week wraps up

I’ve had lots of fun, this last week, posting snippets from my books on Marcia Meara’s great writing site, THE WRITE STUFF. Huge thanks are due to Marcia for the idea, and the opportunity to share and to discover new authors. If you haven’t already, go on over and take a look – there are lots of different genres and styles on display, something for everyone.

I started with THE PRINCE’S MAN, and a snippet of the first meeting between the two main characters, Rustam Chalice and Lady Risada, which you can find here.

Next, I shared an action sequence from the same novel, with my signature use of a battle-trained horse in the thick of the fight. Find that piece here.

Next it was the turn of DESPRITE MEASURES. I shared the opening page, here, and then a piece from near the end of the book, heading towards the climax – a really fun piece to write, with the hedge witch, Wynter, using Cassie, the Caledonian sprite, as a power cable to draw energy from the ley line running along the bottom of Loch Ness. Take a look, here.

Moving on, I posted a section from my SF short story that is included in the SFF anthology I will be publishing next month! Yes, so now you know why I’ve not been too busy on this blog recently – I’ve been crazily formatting and dealing with all the many issues that come about when dealing with a multi-author book. Any boy, what a book. If you like short stories, you’re not gonna want to miss this one – a mixed collection of speculative fiction.

The World and the Stars 500

And now you get to see a preview of the amazing cover for this awesome volume of 24 stories from a great group of authors, headlined by none-other than the world famous TANITH LEE!

I will be sharing more about this forthcoming release shortly – pretty much as soon as I have it safely uploaded to the merchant sites. Then I will be able to give a firm release date.

You can find the excerpt from my story here – a tale of people genetically modified to fit their tasks, yet still with all their human needs and desires intact. The title of my story is: PERFECT FIT.

So finally, I shared a snippet from another project soon to be released: a Caledonian Sprite short story, entitled SPRITE NIGHT – from my unique eco-urban fantasy series, and you can find that one here.

And yet another first: the beautiful cover for this short tale, which I plan to give away as a gift to everyone on my mailing list. So if you are tempted to sign up, you can do so here, and the story will be along very shortly – probably within the next month.

Sprite Night Complete

  1. Thanks so much for taking part, Deborah! It was lovely to have your excerpts to share this week, and I hope you’ve gained some new readers from it. Don’t forget, though, you can post excerpts any time you want on the site, especially if you have promos, etc, coming up. You don’t have to wait for a specific “event” like Excerpt week. We’ll be happy to have you any day.
