Book #Review – SANGUINE EYES by J.K.Walker #UrbanFantasy

Sanguine Eyes (Salt Lake After Dark, #3)Sanguine Eyes by J.K. Walker

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

J. K. Walker does it again!
This 3rd instalment in Jazz’s story has everything you could hope for – breathless pace, witty lines and characters that jump right off the page and into your face.
The opening scene launches straight into action with a bloody battle and a seemingly unstoppable foe, fuelled by the latest drug on the streets – sanguine. While Jazz sets about dealing with the aftermath and discovering the origin of this magically enhanced drug, the complications in her life pile up – a mysterious special agent who knows altogether too much about Jazz’s life, a lone werewolf she’s tangled with before who is inexplicably back on the scene, a werewolf gang muscling in on her friend’s territories, and an old friend asking her to take his niece under her wing – a girl who has just discovered she’s a were cat and is so not happy about it.
Keeping up with the theme of including unusual types of paranormal, this time Jazz has to seek advice from a Vodoun houngan, and his patron loa (spirit) called Loco.
Settling into the apparently familiar pattern of the previous books, I was then stunned by an explosive event that turns Jazz’s world upside down – not to mention my expectations of where the story was going.
I’d hate to give spoilers by revealing too much of the plot – this is far too good a book to ruin the experience for others. Suffice it to say, the cat is out of the bag – and on YouTube.
You could happily pick up Sanguine Eyes and read it without confusion even if you haven’t read the earlier instalments, but why do that? Read them all – you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

    1. Yep. I only read paper books in daylight – kindle after dark – so it depends usually on me flying somewhere, which I just did.
Have started Fallen Eyes now 😀
