With just 3 days left to go, pre-publication reviews are starting to come in, and here is the first, a 5*
5.0 out of 5 stars Cassie, oh Cassie! 9 Dec 2013
Cassie Lake is in deep water. And hot water, and in fact is water or rather a water elemental. She left a carefree life to live as human; mainly to avoid the joys of plumbing… and at this point I was entranced. The main character is brave, vulnerable and compassionate but rather at sea in the world of human emotions and motivations. She is a contradiction in so many ways and the story enfolds and exposes her to new feelings as she struggles to balance the various facets of her life and prevent a catastrophe that could eradicate the land she loves along with her friends and lovers. The author balances the action and pace of the story with the turmoil of feelings plaguing Cassie deftly. The relationships are pithy and often bittersweet. The ‘baddie’ of the plot is not of the standard evil genius or megalomaniac variety, however misguided he is; his aim is laudable. I loved the conflicts of interest this caused in the storyline! I look forward to the next adventures of this tough little sprite, an I am dying to know if she can untangle her love life! This book is tough, funny, poignant and exciting. Not the usual vampire werewolf fare at all, and I felt connected to the story, the outcome and the characters. My only complaint is that the next one is not available.
